Tasty Salted Caramel Apple Pie

Warm apples, gooey caramel, and just the right hit of salt all baked into one cozy pie. It’s messy in the best way and tastes like fall showed up on a plate.

I’ve made my fair share of apple pies but there’ is’s something about adding in salted caramel that takes them to a whole new level.

The whole house smells so cozy while it bakes and the pie comes out sweet, sticky, and absolutely mouth watering.

And it’s one of those pies that looks waaay fancier than it really is (because the caramel does all the heavy lifting).

I’m all about shortcuts that still make everybody go “yum” so it’s no surprise this recipe is one of my new faves!

Ingredients for Salted Caramel Apple Pie

This pie is all about simple stuff you probably already have in the kitchen, and the caramel just makes it taste like magic.

Here’s what you’ll need to pull it together:

  • Pie crusts – store-bought or homemade, no judgment here, they’re just the base.
  • Apples – tart ones like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp so the pie isn’t too sweet.
  • Caramel sauce – drippy, gooey, and the star of the whole thing.
  • Flour – helps soak up the juices so it’s not a soupy mess.
  • Cinnamon – gives that warm fall flavor everyone expects in apple pie.
  • Nutmeg – just a pinch to make the cinnamon pop.
  • Salt – balances out all the sweet and makes it taste richer.
  • Vanilla extract – a splash that makes the caramel taste deeper.
  • Sugar – adds a little sparkle and sweetness to the apples.
  • Egg – for brushing on top so the crust gets that golden shine.
  • Coarse sea salt – sprinkle at the end for that salty-sweet bite.

How to Make Salted Caramel Apple Pie

1. Get the Oven Ready

Turn your oven on to 375°F and let it warm up while you handle the crust and apples.

Having it hot and ready means no waiting around once the pie is built.

2. Roll Out the Bottom Crust

Lay one crust into a 9-inch pie dish and press it in gently so it fits without stretching.

Leave the edges hanging over a little (you’ll use them later to seal everything up).

If the crust starts to feel too soft, chill it in the fridge for 5 minutes.

3. Mix the Apples

In a big bowl, toss your apple slices with flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, vanilla, and sugar until they’re coated.

It should look like they’ve got a light dusting all over.

4. Layer the Filling

Scoop half the apples into the crust, drizzle with caramel, then repeat with the rest of the apples and caramel.

Try to spread it out so the caramel gets into all the nooks.

5. Add the Top Crust

Lay the second crust over the filling, fold the edges together, and crimp them with your fingers or a fork.

Cut a few little slits in the top so the steam has a way out.

A lattice top looks pretty but isn’t required…solid works fine too.

6. Brush and Sprinkle

Beat the egg, then brush it across the top crust to give it that golden glow when it bakes.

Sprinkle just a pinch of coarse sea salt over the top.

Sugar on top of the egg wash makes a nice crunch if you want extra.

7. Bake It Up

Slide the pie into the oven and let it go for about 50–60 minutes, until the crust is golden and you see bubbling caramel at the edges.

If the top browns too fast, cover loosely with foil.

Check around the 40-minute mark to see how it’s doing.

8. Let It Cool

Once it’s out, give the pie at least two hours on the counter so the filling sets.

Cutting in too soon makes it runny, even if it smells too good to wait.

PS: Warm slices with vanilla ice cream are pretty much heaven!

The Apple Pie Everyone Will Beg For

This pie is the kind of dessert that makes the whole house smell like fall and gets everyone hanging around the kitchen waiting for a slice.

Gooey caramel, tart apples, and that salty kick on top turn a simple apple pie into something unforgettable.

It’s cozy, sweet, a little messy, and totally worth baking again and again!
