Looking for the perfect appetizer that’ll have everyone asking for the recipe?

This olive cheese bread is my absolute secret weapon!

I can’t count how many times I’ve shown up to game parties or neighborhood potluck gatherings with this bread still warm from the oven.

Its always the first thing to disappear from the food table.

There’s something about the combination of melty cheese salty olives and crispy bread that just makes people happy.

Even the pickiest eaters cant resist grabbing a piece.

The best part? It looks fancy but takes barely any effort to throw together.

You know those recipes that seem too simple to be that good?

This is definately one of them.

Just a handful of ingredients and about 5 minutes of prep time.

I usually make two loaves now because the first one vanishes so quickly!

If you need a reliable crowd-pleaser that won’t keep you trapped in the kitchen this olive bread with cheese is it.

Perfect for those days when you need something impressive but your time is stretched thin.

Trust me this will become your new go-to appetizer too!

So, let’s make it!

Ingredients for Olive Cheese Bread

Here’s what you’ll need for this VERY TASTY appetizer.

Full fat sour cream – don’t skimp with the low fat stuff here trust me it makes a difference!

  • Softened butter – I leave mine out for about an hour before making this
  • Green olives – I use the ones with pimentos for that pop of color
  • Black olives – the regular sliced ones from the can work perfectly
  • Shredded Monterey Jack cheese – you could use pre-shredded but freshly shredded melts so much better
  • Green onions – just the thinly sliced kind nothing fancy
  • Garlic powder – gives that perfect flavor without having to mess with fresh garlic
  • French bread – I usually grab a loaf from the grocery store bakery section
  • Kosher salt – just a pinch goes a long way
  • Fresh cracked pepper – so much better than the pre-ground stuff!

The combo might sound simple but trust me together they create something magical.

Its that perfect balance of creamy tangy and salty that everyone loves!

How to Make Olive Cheese Bread Recipe

Step 1: Heat your oven to 350 degrees.

Step 2: Grab a medium bowl and add your sour cream, softened butter and garlic powder.

Sprinkle in a good pinch of kosher salt and some fresh cracked pepper.

Stir until it’s mostly smooth. Sometimes I have little butter lumps but they melt in the oven anyway.

Step 3: Next comes the cheese and green onions!

Fold them into your creamy mixture until everything is nice and combined.

The Monterey Jack gets all stretchy and amazing when it bakes.

Step 4: Gently fold both the green and black olives into your cheese mixture. I try not to stir too much at this point so the olives stay intact.

Step 5: Now for the bread prep.

Take your French loaf and slice it in half widthwise (so you have two shorter loaves).

Then slice each of those in half lengthwise. You’ll end up with four pieces total.

Step 6: Spread that amazing olive cheese mixture onto each piece, making sure to get it all the way to the edges. Don’t be shy here load it up!

Step 7: Pop those cheesy bread pieces into your preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes. You’ll know they’re getting close when the cheese is all melty and the edges of the bread start turning golden brown.

Step 8: For that perfect finish switch your oven to broil for just 1-2 minutes.

Watch it carefully though! It goes from perfect to burnt super fast.

You want that cheese to get those gorgeous dark golden brown spots on top.

Take it out slice it up and if you’re feeling fancy sprinkle some fresh parsley on top. But honestly we usually dive right in before I remember any garnish!

This disappears so fast at my house its almost funny!
