Cute & Spooky Rice Krispie Halloween Treats

Whip up these cute and spooky Rice Krispie Halloween treats in no time. Just the right amount of cute and creepy, they’re a hit with little goblins and grown-ups alike.

You know how October rolls in and suddenly every school and community center is hosting a bake sale or Halloween party?

And somehow, without fail, you end up volunteering to bring something.

Sounded like a good idea until you’re standing in the kitchen at 9 p.m. wondering what to make.

That’s why these Rice Krispie Halloween treats are my go-to when I need something cute and quick.

They work for bake sales, they’re a hit at class parties, and they tuck right into school snack bags without making a mess.

Plus, you can decorate them as much or as little as your sanity allows!

Ingredients for Rice Krispie Halloween Treats

Everything’s easy to find, budget-friendly, and won’t have you chasing down ingredients the night before.

  • Rice Krispies cereal – the classic base that keeps everything light and crunchy
  • Mini marshmallows – melt down into that gooey, hold-it-all-together magic
  • Unsalted butter – gives a rich flavor and keeps the marshmallow from sticking to the pot
  • Food coloring – orange, green, purple, or black to make things festive
  • Halloween sprinkles – add color, texture, and instant party vibes
  • Candy eyes – the quickest way to make anything “spooky” without extra effort
  • Melted chocolate or candy melts – perfect for drizzling creepy stripes or spiderwebs

How to Make Rice Krispie Halloween Treats

1. Melt the Butter

Pop the butter into a big saucepan over low heat and let it melt slowly so it doesn’t scorch.

Once it’s all liquidy, you’re ready for the marshmallows.

Low heat is your friend here…no rushing unless you want burnt bits!

2. Melt the Marshmallows

Dump in the marshmallows and stir until they’re smooth and creamy.

This is the messy part, so keep stirring so nothing sticks too much.

Spray your spoon with a bit of cooking spray to keep the marshmallow from clumping.

3. Add the Color

Drip in your chosen food coloring and stir until the color is nice and even.

Go bold here! These will lighten a bit once you add the cereal.

A few extra drops can really make the color pop.

4. Mix in the Cereal

Pour in the Rice Krispies and stir until every piece is coated in that sticky, colorful marshmallow.

Work quick because it will start to set fast!

A big spatula makes this easier than a spoon.

5. Press into the Pan

Scoop the mix into a greased 9×13-inch pan and press it down evenly.

Use wax paper or lightly greased hands to flatten without sticking.

Don’t press too hard or you’ll lose that nice airy crunch.

6. Decorate While Warm

Sprinkle on the Halloween sprinkles and gently press them in so they stick.

Add candy eyes wherever you want them to peek out.

If you’re using chocolate drizzle, wait until they’ve cooled just a bit so it doesn’t melt into the base.

7. Cool and Cut

Let the treats set completely before slicing into squares or fun shapes with cookie cutters.

If they stick to the knife, wipe it with a little oil between cuts.

Stack them in layers with parchment paper if you’re packing for a party!

The Halloween Snack Everyone Grabs First!

These cute and spooky Rice Krispie Halloween treats bring just the right mix of fun and flavor to your October table.

They’re easy enough for a last-minute bake sale contribution and playful enough to be the hit of any class party.

Keep a batch on hand for after-school snacks, and watch them disappear faster than the trick-or-treat candy.
