Crave-Worthy Easter Bunny Cookies with M&Ms for Spring

I get extra giddy when spring rolls in because it means I can finally bring out all the cute, Easter and spring recipes my kids beg for.

Every year, these M&M bunny cookies end up on repeat in my house.

They’re soft, sweet, and full of those bright little pops of color that make the whole kitchen feel ready for warmer days.

My youngest always “help” by stealing the M&Ms, and honestly… I don’t blame them.

These cookies are such an easy win for after-school treats or weekend baking sessions when you just want something fun and seasonal.

Ingredients to Make These Easy Cookies for Spring (Makes 18–22 cookies)

These soft sugar-style cookies are the easiest way to make the house feel festive, and honestly, they turn out adorable every single time.

The trick is in the dough — it bakes thick and pale so the bunny M&Ms really pop — and the kids love pushing the candies in before the cookies go in the oven. It’s cute chaos, but the good kind.

This dough is a classic soft sugar-cookie base — perfect for pressing M&Ms on top without them sinking.

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • Pastel M&Ms
    • Mini M&Ms for bunny “faces”
    • Regular M&Ms cut in half for bunny “ears” or position them vertically into the dough

How to Make M&M Bunny Cookies

1. Prep the Oven

Heat your oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. This keeps the cookies soft and pale, just like the ones in the photo.

2. Cream the Butter and Sugar

In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar until it’s fluffy and light. This step gives the cookies their soft, tender texture.

3. Add the Egg and Vanilla

Mix in the egg and vanilla until everything turns smooth and creamy. This is when the dough starts smelling amazing.

4. Combine the Dry Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Keeping these ingredients separate helps the cookies bake evenly.

5. Form the Cookie Dough

Pour the dry ingredients into the wet mixture and stir until a soft, non-sticky dough forms. If it feels too sticky, add a spoonful of flour.

6. Shape and Flatten the Dough

Scoop the dough into balls (about 2 tablespoons each) and place them on your baking sheet. Gently press the tops down with your hand so you have a smooth surface for the M&Ms.

7. Make the Bunny Faces

Press one large pastel M&M into the center to make the bunny’s head. Then press two mini M&Ms or two halves of a regular M&M above it at an angle to make the ears. Don’t push too deep.

8. Bake the Cookies

Bake for 9–11 minutes, just until the edges are set. The centers should stay soft and pale so the cookies stay thick and chewy.

9. Cool and Enjoy

Let the cookies cool on the tray for a few minutes so the bunny faces stay in place. After that… good luck keeping little hands away. These disappear fast in my house!
